How do Deputies access the “After Death” sections of my Everplan?

For Individuals

When the time comes, a Deputy with permission to unlock your “After Death” sections should log into Everplans and report your death. There will be a link on your Everplan page that says, “Report as Deceased.”

After reporting your passing, the Deputy must wait for a period of time while Everplans attempts to contact you via email with the opportunity to block the unlocking. You can choose a wait time for your Deputy of up to 30 days.

If we do not hear back from you and the wait time expires, you are marked as deceased in our database, and your “After Death” sections are unlocked. Any Deputies with “After Death” permissions will be notified via email, and they will be able to log in and view the recently unlocked sections.

For Households

Some of you have been given access by a financial advisor to a jointly-managed “Household” Everplan which includes information on both spouses. Everplans’ policy is that we do not unlock any “After Death” sections until both members of the Household are reported deceased.

When the time comes, a Deputy with permission to unlock your “After Death” sections should log into Everplans and report a death. There will be a link on the Everplan page that says, “Report as Deceased.”

If only one person has passed away, the Everplan will remain locked. If only one Household Member is deceased, and your Deputy is seeking access to After Death information, that Deputy should work with the surviving Household member to adjust the sharing permissions.

If both Household Members have passed away, the Deputy must wait for a period of time while Everplans attempts to contact you via email with the opportunity to block the unlocking. You can choose a wait time for your Deputy of up to 30 days.
